Yesterday we showed you how to download videos from google video store, and today we teach you a trick on how to download a YouTube video. YouTube is vast when comapared to Google Videos and has videos ranging from movies to sports. And now you can download it all with this little hack by the people from SandBox Films:
- Install Greasemonkey Extension for Firefox
- Go to here for the YouTube To Me Video Download Script
- Right click on the script link, and click Install User Script
- Reload YouTube Video page, you should see the save as link on the top of the page
After installing the script, visit your favorite videos at YouTube. A red bar on top of the browser will appear with a link to save the video locally. YouTube Videos also require the FLV player which you can download from the link mentioned at the end of Google Video post.

Well… my “trick” for saving youtube videos is…
WHILE the video is still playing (and AFTER the progress bar indicates that the whole video is cached) go to the Temporary Internet Files folder and sort by size… you can PAUSE the video if it is short and will finish playing before you can finish getting it.
The big files (sort by SIZE) will be the flv files (whether or not they are tagged as such) – figure out which is the one being watched at the moment and right-click/copy the FILE NAME.
PASTE to somewhere – desktop, perhaps – and then rename as desired, adding “.flv” to the name.
VOILA! You now have saved the video…
