BarCamp in Chennai

barcamp

After it’s run-away success in NewYork, Los Angeles, Austin and Delhi, BarCamp is scheduled to be held at Chennai on the 8th and 9th of April this year (Weekend)

BarCamp is an ad-hoc un-conference born from the desire for people to share and learn in an open environment. It is an intense event with discussions, demos and interaction from attendees. The BarCampChennai focusses on Web 2.0 and Next Generation Internet.

Meet BARCamp, an open, welcoming, once-a-year event for geeks to camp out for a couple days with wifi and smash their brains together. It’s about love and geekery and having a focal point for great ideas, like FOOcamp but open.

The wiki site for BarCamp has more information on the event and also encourages you to participate and help out. What is very interesting is that there are no audiences in the event, if you want to make it to the event, you have to do something for the event as in be a active participant and in the process you will also learn a lot. A list of topics that will be covered at the event is put on the site. You can also suggest the topics you would like to be covered at the camp. If you feel like participating in the event, you can list your name in the wiki by simply logging on and editing the wiki and mentioning what you will be doing at the event. No permissions, no rules, just pitch in what you can. Kiruba Shankar, Associate Director at Sulekha, is spearheading the whole organizing team.
