Cornell University Final year projects involving Microcontroller Design is archived online, with full reports including design, circuit diagram and theoretical background.
This is great news to all the electronics geeks. A repository of innovative projects and robots, this site sure proves to be a holiday project guide. With over 300 projects, ranging from spring 1999 to spring 2006, this site also provides you with photos of the final models thereby helping you to analyse and build your own models.
Most project reports also give you a cost estimation details and a “where to get these components” page. This helps a lot.
Final year Microcontroller Design Projects

Students in ECE 4760 at Cornell University were given the responsibility of choosing, designing and building a project using Atmel Mega644 microcontrollers. Projects this year include video object tracking, acoustic GPS navigator, and an automated rock band guitar player, as well as musical instruments and scientific devices. During the last 5 weeks of the semester in ECE 4760, Microcontroller Design, students have to combine sensors, actuators, microcontrollers, and mathematical techniques to build something. All projects show a great deal of originality and work. There are over 350 projects on the page. This year the coding was done using WINAVR and AVRstudio.

I am looking for a final year project which involves microcontroller and communication? I havea few ideas and would appreciate sme suggestions. Vehicel tracking system which locates vehicle on earth by use of gps and sends coordinates of lat nd longitude to gsm modem. This could then be co-ordinated via google maps?..I have knowledge in security communications so possible to put some security in place. could be used as anti vehicle theft?…or knowing which stp to get off in a train or bus?
