Techfest, IIT Bombay’s Annual International Science and Technology festival and Asia’s largest festival of its kind, on its 10th anniversary presents Techfest Nexus. Nexus is an initiative by Techfest to provide college students throughout India a localised platform to learn something new and demonstrate their abilities. Nexus will see Techfest 2007 ally with select NITs across India to realize the same.
The inaugral edition invites students from across the nation to participate in Void: The National Robotics Challenge, to be held under the banner of Nexus. The competition involves constructing a manually controlled robot which can perform specific tasks. This competition will be held in two stages – the first stage at the NITs and IIT Bombay (September – October) to be followed by the grand finale at IIT Bombay during Techfest 2007 (January).
The dates and venues for Techfest Nexus are as follows:-
31st September – NIT Bhopal
1st October – IIT Bombay
1st October – NIT Nagpur
14th October – NIT Surat
The top four entries from each of the zones will make it to the final round of Void: The National Robotics Challenge and also win handsome cash prizes. In case one is unable to participate in the first round to be held at Techfest Nexus, then they can still participate in Void: The National Robotics Challenge by appearing for the elimination round to be held at IIT Bombay during Techfest 2007 in January

Techfest allied with three NITs to hold a robotics problem statement
with the specific aim of spreading the Techfest experience at each of
these centers. Nexus aims to promote robotics in India by providing a
platform locally for students to showcase their talents and the
response was heartening with over 200 teams participating nationally.
Techfest 2008, IIT Bombay aims to spread the message even more strongly by
conducting Nexus at 7 centers spread across India.
Centers include Delhi, Jaipur, Indore, Surat, Pune, Calicut and Mumbai .
So gear up and get ready for the truly national challenge!!
