This is a complete tutorial on how to use the Free Proxy with Firefox. Using the proxy allows you to browse the internet anonymously. The best use of a proxy is that you can browse sites that are blocked in the network; sites like orkut, gmail, Myspace, etc are generally banned/firewalled in the office network, proxies help you penetrate the firewall.
These are seven simple steps that you need to follow in order to use the proxy. I have explained the whole process using both Windows and a Mac.
Step1.
You need to have a list of active proxies that are available. There are a large number of sites that provide you with this list.
Step2.
Choose an IP address along with the port from the list. In this tutorial I have chosen IP:10.12.143.257 and port 8080 as an example. You can choose what ever you want from the list.
Step3.
Choose Tools->Options in your Firefox browser.(In the case of a Mac, you need to choose Firefox->Preference)

Step5.
Click on Network tab and select the Settings under Connection.

Step6.
Choose Manual proxy configuration, in the Connections Settings window.
Enter the IP address and the Port address in the HTTP Proxy and Port respectively.(In our example, HTTP Proxy contains: 10.12.143.257 and Port address contains 8080). Get Proxy IP addresses from: Proxy 4 Free

Check ‘Use this proxy server for all protocols’ checkbox.
Step7.
Click OK and your IP address is set to your desired Proxy address.
You can use any online service to check your IP address, like the IP checker, and lots of other free tools.
Happy browsing.
