Apple’s App Store has been a huge Success in just a Short span of 5 months. And the statistics from the Apple year-end charts show that gaming and entertainment applications for iPhone and iPod Touch gadgets are a major hit.
The paid applications list is dominated mostly by Games. Some of the most preferred games are: the Zen-like Koi Pond, Apple’s own Texas Hold’em, Crash Bandicoot: Nitro Kart 3D, Super Monkey Ball, Cro-Mag Rally, and Enigmo. iPhone 3G and the iPod Touch have proved to be on e of the best gaming platforms due to their touch screen, motion controls, brilliant processor and extremely good graphics.
Among the Free Apps for these gadgets the most downloaded ones are the Internet radio program Pandora and the mobile Facebook application. In Spite of the fact that Google Earth Application being out for just over a month, it is the seventh most downloaded free iPhone application. The other programs in the free Apps List are AIM, Urbanspoon, Lightsaber Unleashed and Tap Tap Revenge.
The tremendous success of the App Store has made the iPhone a potentially attractive platform for the developers. Some of the developers still feel that Apple’s approval process is still not clear. Apple has been making many changes to its App Store to make it Developer friendly. It is also moving forward in letting the developers to provide free application trials for free.
Apple’s Rivals’ like Google has also taken similar approach with the Android Market after noticing the success of Apple’s App Store.
