Firefox has a configuration file that can be accessed by typing ‘about:Config’ in the address bar. This file is similar to the Registry file in Windows, and contains all the Configuration settings of Firefox.

There are lot of other information that the user can change in the config file apart from the default values. But care should be taken before making these changes, since it can sometimes cause Firefox to stop working. Its always better to take a backup of the setting file, before making any changes to this file. So that, incase you screw up the file, you at least have the backup to restore it.

How to take the back-up: Its a simple process to backup the config file in firefox. Select Run in Windows and type “%appdata%mozillafirefoxprofiles“. It shows a Windows folder which contains a folder which has a name like ati9z0wb.default (the name may not be same in all computers).
