Part 4 – Choosing a Profitable Niche for Your Blog

I know that beginners are always thinking about the topic to choose for their blog. Some are interested in blogging only for fun or hobby but some people wanted to make money out of their blog. People who fall on the second category have to think seriously about the blog niche. The selection of the topic determines the success of the blog which is meant for money making. Here are some of the tips for selecting a right topic for your blog:

Passion:

You have gone half way, if you are writing on the topic you are really interested or passionate about it. The vital part for a successful blog is to choose a favorite topic you would love to read, talk and explore. If the readers got interested in the content of your topic and find it useful to them, then they come again and again to read the content. You must be comfortable and expertise in your domain topic. If you are not interested in your niche topic, then you will soon lose your interested in generating new and fresh content. But it doesn’t mean that your favorite blog will provide you with profit. The profit of the blog depends on several other factors also.

Reputation:

The next step is to get reputation to the chosen niche. Your hard work does not give any promising results, if people are not searching for the topic you are interested in. So before selecting a topic for your blog, you have to analyze the search engine results. Check out the results of the first keyword that comes in to your mind by google the keyword. Google will give you an idea of two facts. You will understand the amount of content on the chosen topic available online and whether the contents chosen for your blog have any kind of advertisements or not? You can identify the number of pages with the keyword in the index of Google on the right top of the results page. You can search for the keywords made for several words by putting it in double quotes. If the people are not searching for your chosen topic on search engines, then your blog is dead.

Potential for profit:

You won’t get any profit by having a popular topic. You have to find out whether the topic is receiving sufficient advertisements in major PPC advertising networks. The two most famous PPC programs are Google Adsense and Yahoo Publishers Network (YPN). You can search for the high paying keywords related to your topic in Google AdWords Keyword Tool and Google Adwords Traffic Estimator. Use these two tools to get an idea on the traffic and average CPC for related keywords for AdWords/Adsense. You can also use WordTracker to get a list of targeted keywords for your blog niche.

Availability of the content:

Fresh and quality content is required for keeping the blog run at a consistent pace. You have to provide fresh content continuously for making your blog successful. It is wise to select a topic that has the scope of content creation regularly. In order to get ideas and topics for new content, you can subscribe to forums, news bulletins and other people in the Blogosphere.
