Your content must be valuable
Always remember the millions (hopefully) of viewers that will see your content and make sure it is worthy. Is your content genuine? Does it provide value to its readers? Is it the best current and you can provide?
To create valuable content be sure to consider the end affect of your writing. For example if you’re writing about personal growth your end affect should be to change people’s way of thinking, to expand their minds and to change their behavior. If your content has no affect on your readers who has no value.
Valuable content will also increase traffic to your site because readers will refer new readers to your site if the content is strong enough and valuable enough. Creating strong valuable content is time consuming and difficult but the pay out is well worth it.
Your content must be unique
Simply put, your content must be unique. While it takes more time to produce unique content, the time is well spent, as viewers are more likely to return if they find your content fresh and interesting.
Your content must be timeless
Consider this: your content will outlast you. Long after you’re gone your words will still be here. Be sure to write content that will withstand the test of time. There’s a reason that Plato is still quoted today – his writing is timeless. Make your content timeless
Always remember your audience
To often content writer’s focus on search engine optimization and rankings instead of their true audience: humans. Instead of focusing on quantity, focus on quality. A single posting per week of 1000 + words is likely to be stronger than multiple 250 word postings in a single week
Know your purpose
Always write with a clear purpose in mind. Whether you are seeking to inform the public about a specific cause or issue or trying to change someone, know why you are writing and always strive to write content that accomplishes that goal.
Be yourself
The best content comes from a place of honesty. Be honest with your viewers about who you are, what you believe in and what you do. You are, in effect, building relationships with your viewers. Make sure your content is genuine and true to whom you are. Share your blunders as well as your successes – each will have a point and an impact.
Be Truthful and unafraid
Your content must be an accurate representation of who you are and your belief system. Not every one will agree with what you say, but almost everyone will respect your for your truthfulness. When your content clearly states a personal belief, be prepared for backlash. Don’t worry about the court of public opinion; be truthful and unafraid in your content writing.
Treat your visitors like actual people
It is easy to forget that real flesh and blood people will read the content you are writing.
