Prevent Internet Disconnection When your Computer Becomes Idle

I know of many acquaintances who purchased Reliance Netconnect Broadband + because of the faster download speed and transfer rate. Compared to other wireless internet provider, they claimed that they offer 30% higher download rate. If you want to purchase the package, it will cost you about 3,500 Indian rupees, non-refundable and you need to subscribe to monthly data plan since there are no pre-paid kits available. You have to know though that you are limited to 10 gb for fair usage activity.

RELIANCE NETCONNECT USB MODEM FOR SALE 300x230 Prevent Internet Disconnection When your Computer Becomes IdleHere are some of the problems you will encounter when you use reliance netconnect broadband + and suggested solutions to make your internet surfing pleasurable:

1. It does not connect automatically

Basically, you need to connect manually to the internet using the reliance netconnect broadband +. To-date, there has yet no known solution to this problem although I’m guessing somebody has been thinking of a script for this already,

2. Internet connection disconnects automatically

An internet connection that is dial-up based will automatically disconnect if connection becomes inactive. This is because there is no longer an application connecting to the internet. You will not even know about it because there is no notification message which is primarily a result of poor software design and poor testing.

Considering that the disconnection is based on the fact that no program is accessing the internet already, the tweak therefore is made by making a program which will keep on pinging the Google server all the time thereby giving the impression that a program is connecting to the internet all the time.

Here’s a tip to keep your reliance netconnect broadband + connection active:

Create a desktop shotcut by right clicking on an empty area of your desktop and selecting

New -> Desktop -> Create shortcut

Type this text in the target box

+ Ping www.google.com –t

Click ok. When you need to surf the internet, you only have to double click this shortcut in order to keep your connection always active.

If you are using Microsoft Vista, you can follow the following steps in order to prevent disconnection problem:

1. Open
* Start Menu ->Control Panel -> Network and Sharing Center
2. Click
* Manage Network Connections on the left pane
3. Right click the reliance dial up connection
* Reliance dial up connection ->properties->Options tab.
* At the bottom of the newly opened windows interface, click the radio button corresponding to the command “redial line if dropped”.
* Click ok.
* Close all open windows. It will now automatically connect to the internet once line is dropped.

The procedure if the same for both Windows XP and Vista except probably for a few minor windows interface difference. A good thing to remember though is you need to re-start your PC in order to effect the changes you have made.

Anyway, for Windows XP users here the tweak:

Click Start Menu – > Control Panel->network connection

Right click on Dial up connection->Properties-Options tab-> check Redial if line is dropped.
