[XP Hack]Disabling USB Ports

You may choose to disable the USB, External CD-Rom, external hard disk or memory flash function – all of which use the USB port and do not affect the other Peripherals that also use the USB port like the scanner, printer, mouse, keyboard and more.

Follow the steps below in order to disable the USB Port by windows registry.

  1. Click Start
  2. Click Run
  3. Enter “Regedit”
  4. Click OK
  5. Once in the registry editor, go to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetServicesUSBSTOR
  6. Use the mouse to double click on Dword Start (located on the right). You will then replace Data Value from 3 to 4 and select OK.
  7. Close the registry windows

After you restart your computer, your USB function will be disabled.

If you wish to restore this, repeat all of the steps above, but change the Value Data (step 6) from 4 back to 3.
