You probably know by now that the mere clicking of the delete button to get rid of files does not mean that they are ultimately gone. If you still do not know that, at least now you know.
What the delete action does is unlink the file so that it is not visible or accessible. It may seem that the files are gone but actually they are still in your hard disk. That means there is a high chance that the sensitive or confidential data you do not want to display can easily be restored by hard disk recovery softwares.
So to permanently remove your documents from your hard disk, you need something more than just the act of clicking the delete button. You need [Eraser].

[Eraser] is a user-friendly software that enables the client to totally remove any file or folder that are decided that it is best for them never to be recovered. For the sake of this article, let us define erasing as wiping its entire data beyond recovery. Yep, it means permanent.

Here is the list of what Eraser can do and erase: 1. Files and folders; 2. Previously deleted files; 3. Index.dat files on reboot; 4. Recycle bin contents; 5. Temporary files on Windows; 6. Cache and internet cookies; 7. Files and drives that are encrypted; 6. Frees space on DOS, Win 95, Win 98, Win ME, Win NT, Win 2000, and Win XP; and 7. Paging file.
Using Eraser is easy. You can simply drag and drop files and/or folders into the On-Demand under the Eraser tab in the left side of the page. You can use the convenient Windows Explorer.
right-click extension or you can use the built-in Scheduler to automatically wipe your unused hard disk space or cache files.
A word of caution is to be remembered and applied in using Eraser, however. As mentioned, this software will permanently delete your documents leaving your hard disk clean from your unwanted files and/or folders. You have to be careful to choose the right data because once it is dropped in Eraser, you can never retrieve it again.
