In order to counter attack the popular Apple’s App store, Google and Microsoft are coming up with similar services, called Android Market and Windows Marketplace respectively. These initiatives would set as proper platforms for the developers to sell their applications for the mobile phones that are running on Android and Windows Operating System. It is also planned that the developers get to set the price for their applications in the Android Market, which is planned to launch soon.

Nokia and Samsung to join the race.

There are rumors that Microsoft is planning to launch this application store after it introduces the new operating system for mobile phones. This new version is expected to have lot of new features to rival the Android and iPhone 3G. According to sources there are aver 20000 applications that have been already developed for the Windows Mobile Operating System.

Even with the launch of these app stores, Microsoft and Google would be far away from competing with Apple’s App store. In addition to this competition, the Blackberry is coming up with the Research in Motion and is expected to launch its store later this year.
